Led Zeppelin - II (Hard/Blues/Folk Rock,1969)

"At our very worst, we were better than most people. And at our very best, we could just wipe the floor with the lot of them."

Another example of why Jimmy Page and his band are considered the ultimate rock gods. Put simply, everything this guys have ever recorded is an absolute must-have. So an 1969 album featuring anthems like "Whole Lotta Love", "Heartbreaker" or "Moby Dick" is - of course- included. Since the group could only enter the studio for brief amounts of time, most of the songs that compose II are reworked blues and rock and roll standards that the band was performing on-stage at the time. Not only did the short amount of time result in a lack of original material, it made the sound more direct. Indeed, the album's heavy and hard, full of the brutal and direct Jimmy Page guitar riffs, plus extended instrumental solos. As such, the album is generally considered to be very influential on the development of rock music, being an early forerunner of heavy metal, and inspiring a host of other rock bands including Aerosmith, Van Halen, Guns N' Roses and more. This total classic is a must have for every rock n'roll collection! Also check out Led Zeppelin III, and their classic debut as well.
